Ingredients:

  • 1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
  • 2 1/2 tbsp. powdered sugar
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. butter

Materials:

  • measuring cup
  • measuring spoons
  • whisk
  • spoon
  • small bowl
  • small saucepan
  • mug

After you gather all your ingredients and supplies (img. 1, 2) you’re gonna want to start by making the whip cream.  Pour the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar in the bowl.  Keep whisking it until it gets thick.  It should look similar to picture 3.  If you want to make it thicker, add more powdered sugar.  You could also add some vanilla for flavor.  Once this is done just keep it in the fridge until later. But if you really want to you could just skip this step entirely and use whip cream from the store.

As for making the actual butterbeer, start by putting the milk in the pan on medium heat.  Once it’s warm, add the brown sugar, vanilla, and butter.  It’s better if you don’t just dump the brown sugar in.  I learned that if you do that it tends to clump and then you’re stuck with lumpy butterbeer.  Not fun. :( Your finished product should look like picture 4.

Once everything is mixed well pour it into a mug and voilà!
